Session Replay

The Session Replay page provides an in-depth visualisations of individual user interactions on your website. This tool allows you to replay user sessions, analyse specific behaviours, and identify opportunities to improve the user experience.

Overview #

Session Replay enables you to:

  • View recordings of user sessions, showing how visitors navigate through your site.
  • Analyze interactions such as clicks, scrolls, and time spent on different pages.
  • Gain insights into user journeys and pinpoint areas for optimization.

Access the Session Replay page #

  1. Log into your ChatFlow dashboard
  2. Navigate to your chatbot’s settings
  3. Click on Analytics at the top of the page
  4. Select the Session Replay tab from the options

Key Features #

1. Metrics Summary #

At the top of the page, you’ll see an overview of key metrics:

  • Total Sessions: Number of recorded sessions.
  • Avg. Duration: The average length of recorded sessions.
  • Avg. Events Per Replay: The average number of user interactions per session.

2. Session List #

The main section lists recorded sessions with details such as:

  • Session ID: Unique identifier for each session.
  • Date & Time: When the session occurred.
  • Visitor Location: Geographic location of the visitor.
  • Duration: Total time spent by the visitor on the site.
  • Events Count: Total number of interactions recorded during the session.

Each session entry has an option to:

  • Play the session replay.
  • View or delete the session.

Session Replay Details #

Clicking on a session opens a detailed view, which includes:

1. Tracked Events #

  • Landing Pages: The pages where visitors started their session.
  • Pageviews: The pages visited during the session.
  • Clicks: Specific elements clicked by the visitor (e.g., buttons, links, products).
  • Scrolls: How far users scrolled on pages, expressed as percentages.

2. Session Player #

The right-hand panel includes:

  • A replay interface with controls for play, pause, skip, and speed adjustments.
  • Visitor information, including:
    • Location (if available).
    • Duration: Total session length.
    • Time Spent: Exact timestamps for session start and end.
    • Events Count: Total interactions during the session.

3. Playback Controls #

  • Skip Inactive: Automatically fast-forwards through inactive periods in the replay.
  • Playback Speed: Adjust replay speed to 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x for faster analysis.
  • Share: Option to share session replays with team members.

Best Practices for Using Session Replays #

  • Optimize User Experience: Analyze replays to identify usability issues and improve navigation.
  • Monitor Critical Interactions: Focus on clicks, form submissions, and engagement with key elements.
  • Identify Pain Points: Look for areas where users drop off or encounter errors.
