Status Updates and Monitoring Setup

This guide will walk you through how to set up and manage status updates in your ChatFlow widget using two methods: URL Monitoring and Maintenance Mode. These features help keep users informed about system health or planned downtimes, improving user trust and transparency.

Accessing the Status Update Settings

To begin:

  • Navigate to your ChatFlow dashboard.
  • Go to the “Links and Footer” tab under your Chat Widget configuration.
  • Enable Status Updates from the Body Components list.

Click the gear icon next to Status Updates to configure the settings.

Using URL Monitoring

Use this method to automatically check the operational status of your system via an endpoint.

Steps:

  • Select the URL Monitoring option.
  • Enter a Status URL that returns a 200 status code when the system is operational (e.g., https://example.com/page).
  • Choose how often the system should check the status:
    • Daily
    • Hourly
    • Per Visitor

This ensures that your chatbot reflects real-time system performance directly in the widget.

Using Maintenance Mode

Use this method to manually schedule periods of maintenance.

Steps:

  • Select the Maintenance Mode option.
  • Input the following fields:
    • Start Date and Start Time
    • End Date and End Time
    • Time Zone for accurate timing based on user location
  • Add a custom Maintenance Message to be shown during the scheduled window.
    • Example: “We’re currently performing scheduled maintenance. We’ll be back shortly.”

A preview of the message will be shown to help visualize what users will see.

Save and Preview

After entering all relevant details:

  • Click Save to apply the configuration.
  • The chatbot will now automatically display the correct operational status or scheduled maintenance notification to users based on your configuration.

This setup helps maintain transparency with your users by keeping them informed about real-time system performance or upcoming downtimes directly within the chatbot interface.
